Tonight, the lowly New York Jets host the surging Miami Dolphins in an AFC East showdown. Geno Smith will try to not only win back his starting QB role, but also the confidence of his teammates. While Michael Vick provided a spark in his first two starts in place of a benched Smith, he was 7 of 19 for 76 yards before being replaced by Smith in the third quarter Monday. Smith hasn’t started since an Oct. 26, 43-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills in which he was benched after throwing interceptions on three consecutive possessions. The Dolphins on the other hand are trending in the opposite direction. Despite losing a close contest last week at Denver, the Dolphins look poised to make a run at the playoff. However, they still are in the mix for the AFC East championship, especially with the New England Patriots losing to the Green Bay Packers yesterday. With the Dolphins -6.5 and the total set at 41.5, it appears Vegas expects another inept performance from Smith and company.
