Well, last night was another rough one for my fantasy gems. Despite Cory Joseph playing 30 minutes last night he only produced 11 fantasy points. Ben McLemore was on pace for a 30+ fantasy point night with 16 FP at halftime, but fizzled off in the second half and ended with only 21 FP. With only 3 games to choose from last night finding consistent players under $5,500 was very tough. Hopefully tonights full card will provide us more opportunity. Tonights players are:
Patrick Beverly $5,300, Houston Rockets Point Guard, returned from an injured hamstring and logged 27 minutes and 32.7 FP. This production came despite a 6 game absence caused by that hamstring injury. Expect Beverly’s minutes and production to continue as Jason Terry takes a backseat to Beverly as the Rockets main Point Guard. This very well may be Beverly’s last game costing $5,500 or less so take advantage of this while you can.
Kris Humphries $4,900, Washington Wizards Power Forward, looks to continue producing both big numbers and minutes while replacing injured Nene Hilario. He has logged 25+ minutes and 28+ FP in his last 4 games. When Nene returns, we do expect Humphries minutes and production to slightly decline. However, if he continues to produce at this level he will force Wizards coaching staff to open up more minutes for him. Regardless, until Nene does return, Humphries is a daily steal at his current price. Add his recent production with the fact he is facing off against a Magic team that allows 37 FP ppg to opposing PF, expect a double double and 25+ FP points this evening.
Cory Joseph $4,700, San Antonio Spurs, Point Guard, will have my followers scratching their heads when they see his name tonight. I know I know, I just got done saying how he underperformed SIGNIFICANTLY in last nights game. However, if you are a daily reader of this page, you know that I correlate minutes played with possible production. Meaning the more minutes a player plays, the more likely he is to see increased opportunities that in turn could create increased Fantasy Points. While Joseph only scored 11 FP, he did play 30 minutes. With the expectation that Popovich will rest both Ginoboli and Duncan Tonight, we can expect Joseph to again play 30 minutes or more. With the loss of two significant scoring threats the Spurs have, more shots will be available for the rest of the team, Joseph included. Going out on a limb here, I strongly expect Joseph to log between 27-32 FP tonight.
